When it has been idle for its default of 20 minutes, it stays active and sends a black (not blank) screen signal to the TV. I'm sure this is fine for waking up the stick quickly, but sending that black screen keeps the TV active.

I am having the same issue with my fire stick. I reached out to NBC they asked me some info about my fire stick data and havenât responded since. The app works on roku and what not so clearly itâs a problem specific to the fire stick. Itâs frustrating that it still persists itâs been nearly 2 months since mine stopped working.
